Splinters Cabin and Aztec Falls & BBQ (9/01/25)

 

Men come and join us on Monday September 1st on this 12 mile trail exploring the area around Lake Arrowhead. We will venture out to see Splinters Cabin, which was built in 1922 by Le Roy Raymond along Deep Creek.  The name “Splinters”, came from his wife who stated that everything Le Roy built seemed to be full of splinters (with a possible 3/4 - 1 mile hike and swim to Aztec Falls).  We will then proceed up the trail to the east side of Lake Arrowhead and the 178. After the trail ride we invite you and your family over for a BBQ!

 

Bring a friend and make it a fun.  You can drive your own 4x4 or you can ride with someone.  Please use the signup link above and let us know if you are going to bring your own rig or you would just like to ride. Please note: each participant needs to register, whether you are driving or riding.  Upon signing up we will follow up with an additional email detailing the trail route, gear, radios, etc...

11.5 miles

1111 elevation gain

1591elevation loss

Difficulty rating 3-4 (Scale of 1-10) - One section near the end of the trail that is 6-7 but is optional)

Moderate 

Uneven rutted dirt trail with loose rocks, sand, erosion, steep grades and washes.  There are a number washes and steep sections over loose sand for which your 4-wheel drive may be needed.

 

 

Schedule 

7:30am - Meet in church parking lot (611 E Cypress Ave, Redlands, CA)

7:45am - Trail/Safety Briefing 

8:00am - Caravan to Lake Arrowhead and trail head. 

             - Air down 15-20 minutes —

             - Start trail

  

Directions to trail head

Take highway 210 west to 330 North towards Arrowhead.  We will air down at McKay Park (321 Rouse Ranch Rd, San Bernardino, CA 92402)

 

Please Note:  This trail is in the San Bernardino National Forest.

                        You will need an annual or a day Adventure Pass.
