Houser Geode Beds

Get OUTSIDE

We had so much fun last year and got rained out this Novemeber - so now we are on for January 10th.

Bring your families on this one day excursion to dig and find geodes, thunder eggs, agates and more! The Houser Geode beds and the surrounding area are world renowned for geodes and other precious gems and minerals.

Check out the Houser Geode Bed adventure page for pics and videos from our last trip.

Location:

Take I-10 East to Exit 222 (Wiley’s Well Rd.)

Exit 222 -  Wiley’s Well Road - Turn Right.

Head south towards the State Prison and keep left onto the dirt road and keep heading south.

The road from this point consists of graded dirt and unless it is raining, or it has rained recently, it should be passable for all types of vehicles. If the road has not been graded within the previous two or three weeks, it is likely to be seriously wash-boarded.

Vehicle Requirements:

High clearance vehicle is not required to get to some of the Geode locations.  But a medium clearance vehicle (SUV, Subaru, etc..) would be preferred. 4 Wheel Drive is not needed.

What to bring:

1. Water - It is dry out there and you will need water.  Bring at least 1 gallon of water per person per day.

2. Bring shovels, picks, and a hammer.  If you want to dig for geodes you will need to bring tools to dig out the Geodes!!!

3. Other necessities: Fist aid kit, hat, sunscreen, and chair.

Be aware:

- There are no bathrooms or other services out here - So, bring necessary supplies, squatty potty, TP, ect....

- There is very little cell phone service.

- Snakes and other desert creatures should be minimal this time of year, but still a good idea to watch out.

- Bring Water!
